Stefan Waldvogel is an Information Security Engineer with two decades of experience in Information Technology, Aviation, and Defense.
Stefan believes that hands-on experience is a critical part of a successful Cybersecurity career. Besides his passion for helping others, over the last 20 years, he gained a broad knowledge in Aviation, Information Technology, Industrial Control Systems, and Software Defined Radio. He worked for 5 years as an Aircraft Radar Technician, 5 years as a Databases- Systems administrator for the German Air Force, and 17 months partly in a Security Compliance role.
He received his education at the University of Applied Science, Cologne, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Over the last 2 years, he spent ~4,000 hours in courses, labs, certifications, and home labs. He publishes and constantly improves an open-source Cybersecurity career website with over 200 pages (https://www.cyberhuntingguide.net/) to show others a path to a successful IT career. He supports the Cybersecurity community with other volunteer activities. He holds various certifications like CompTIA’s A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, PenTest+, and eLearnSecurity’s eCPPT (eLearnSecurity Certified Professional Penetration Tester), and Microsoft’s AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate), and RangeForce SOC 1 and SOC 2 and others.
Right now, he is preparing himself for the job hunting phase. Hands-on experience and helping others are important to him. Therefore he is looking for a role as a Security Engineer, Incident Handler, or a SOC role in a place where he can continuously learn new aspects of Cybersecurity.
