CYBERSECURITY JOB HUNTING GUIDE
Writing a resume

How you can write a great resume
This area is all about resumes and how you can write a matching one. A resume is the most crucial part of your job hunt. A badly written resume is a reason for rejections. Dedicate some time to write a well-written resume, and you get more invitations for interviews.
One thing in advance:
A resume contains a lot of personal data. Mention your city or area, but a full address is often too much. Remember, if you work with recruiters, they need your location (city), but the actual address is not essential. Some want these details and more, and my advice is: Do not work with those recruiters. You can work with millions of recruiters, and you have the choice.
If you use LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed, and you show your resume, never reveal your address. Not everyone is your friend, especially not on these platforms.
You want to work in security and keep your public profile low.
Main thing:
- Write result driven
Example:
1) "Developed Bash script that automated Task Y which could save a company's team time on X."
is much better than
2) "Wrote a script in Python" or "Python skills."

Publishing your resume on LinkedIn
Many people publish their resumes on LinkedIn (and other platforms), and in my opinion, this is a bad idea. The reasons are:
- You cannot tailor a resume, and therefore it holds less value.
- Evil people use your resume for bad things. Think about data scrapping and identity theft, but there are more problems.
- Sometimes a recruiter wants your resume, and he or she can ask you. If they already have your resume, they do not have to do that, and you cannot talk to them.
