Author: Stefan Waldvogel
Write a cover letter with 3 sections
The cover letter is often the first read part of an application. Not all employers want a cover letter, but if you have one, and you tailor it right, it shows interest. Cover letters have three parts:
I did a world trip and mentioned it for three reasons: First; it is something that few people do (but dream about) and second, the company has customers in Europe and it is an advantage to understand different cultures, and third is shows my character/personality. I am doing things that people rarely do.
Most companies do not require a cover letter, but I will add one just to show interest. It is a powerful sign of going the extra mile for this job. About 10% of the people add a cover letter.
Remember:
If you target an entry-level job in Cybersecurity, you compete against many people. Do everything to stand out.
- Part 1: It is about how you discovered this position. You can do name-dropping. If you have a name or names, add them.
- Part 2: Here you match your skills with the wanted skills and why you are qualified. You write about what you can bring to the company.
- Part 3: It is about how to follow up and you mention an email or a phone number.
